In addition, Conder, Hermann Ende, and Wilhelm Böckmann were also prominent figures. Conder, of all the people, stayed in Japan almost all the time from his arrival until his death, and it can be said that he contributed the most to Japan through his design and training of younger generations. …

…第1に御雇外国人を招いて主要な建築の設計を委嘱したことである。大きな足跡を残した人物として，造幣寮(1871，大阪)などを造ったウォートルス，工部大学校本館(1887，東京)などを設計したボアンビルC.de Boinville，陸軍参謀本部(1881以降，東京)などの設計者カペレッティ，それにコンドル，エンデHermann Ende，ベックマンWilhelm Böckmannらがいる。なかでもコンドルは来日後死去するまでの間ほとんど日本に滞在し，設計ならびに後進の指導などを通じて最も日本に貢献したといえる。…
