Tsujiko - Zushi

Japanese:
Tsujiko - Zushi
It originates from the Heian period word 'Juji' meaning a cross-shaped road, and is a derivative of the 'Tsuji' (passage), which was created as a kokuji character to express that meaning. It was also used to mean 'narrow road' (Meigoki), 'small street' (Setsuyoshu), and 'side street' (Nippo Jisho). In ancient times it was written as 'Juji', 'Tsujiko', and 'Tsujiko', and from the Muromachi period onwards it was also used as 'Zushi', 'Tsujiko', 'Zushiko', and 'Tsujiko'. There were already 'Tsujiko' in the 10th century Heian-kyo. These were not roads based on the Heian-kyo grid system, but new east-west roads that were developed in conjunction with the development of the northern suburbs of Heian-kyo.
