A book of Japanese classics from the late Edo period. Four volumes, 11 books. Written by Hirata Atsutane. Published in Bunsei 1-2 ( 1818-19 ). It discusses the origins of ancient legends, the ontology of the Jindai Moji, classics such as the Kojiki and Nihonshoki, national histories, topographical records, and ancient dictionaries, as well as rituals and annual events, and places greater importance on norito and the Shinsen Shojiroku than on the Kojiki and Nihonshoki. It shows original scholarship, but its theories on the Jindai Moji and the Wadou Josou Nihongi are not recognized in modern times.
