Great Dyke

Japanese: グレートダイク(英語表記)Great Dyke
Great Dyke
An Archean basic layered intrusion in Zimbabwe, southeastern Africa. It is 3-12 km wide and extends 480 km from north-northeast to south-southwest, and is so named because it looks like a huge dike on a geological map. It was formed when basic magma intruded into a large graben depression, and has an overall boat-like structure. In other words, the rocks become thicker from the east and west toward the center in the width direction, and also from the north and south toward the center in the length direction.
