An imperial princess from the second half of the 5th century. She is also written as Princess Aonojo or Princess Oshinumibe. There are two theories about her: she was the daughter of Emperor Richu (her mother was Kurohime, a descendant of the Katsuragi clan, and the younger sister of Prince Ichinobe no Oshiwa), and she was the daughter of Prince Ichinobe no Oshiwa (her mother was Haehime, a descendant of the Katsuragi clan). The Nihon Shoki records that after the death of Emperor Seinei, Iitoyo "ruled the country" at Oshinumi no Tsunosashi Palace, and there are descriptions in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki that suggest her ascension to the throne. The Fuso Ryakki and Honcho Koin Jounroku refer to him as "Emperor Iitoyo," so it is possible that Iitoyo assumed the position of Great King in an interim manner.
