This refers to a view that differs from the orthodox theory, a heretical theory. Anshin is a state of mind where the mind is stable and immovable. It is a term used especially in the Shin sect of Buddhism, which was founded by Shinran. During Shinran's lifetime, there were already disputes over whether to have one thought or many thoughts, whether to have thoughts or not, and whether to have one thought of faith or one thought of action. During the time of Renyo, the "Hijibomon" teachings, which taught teachings in secret, the "Ichiyakumon" teachings, which claimed one could attain Buddhahood in this world, and "Semotsuda-no-mi" teachings were pointed out as heretical. The Sango Wakuran incident, which occurred in 1763 (the 13th year of the Horeki era), is well known as an incident of heteroanshin.
