Suiyuan Province - Suiyuan Province (English spelling)

Japanese: 綏遠省 - すいえんしょう（英語表記）Suí yuǎn shěng

The name of a former province in China. In 1914, Suiyuan Special Region was established as part of Inner Mongolia, and in 1928, it was changed to a province and took charge of the eastern part of the present-day Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, including the Ulanqap League, Yikeshao League, and Bayan-Nur League, as well as the cities of Hohhot and Baotou. The provincial capital was Guisui, or the present-day Hohhot. In 1954, it was abolished and incorporated into the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. This is the so-called Ordos region, which includes deserts such as Kubuqi and Mu Usu, but on the south side of the Yinshan (Daqingshan) mountain range, there is a wide valley along the Yellow River.In particular, the Houtao region, centered on Wuyuan County, has been developed into vast farmland using irrigation agriculture using water from the Yellow River, and with high agricultural productivity, it served as a strong base for the local warlord led by Fu Zuoyi.

中国の旧省名。1914年，内モンゴルの一部に綏遠特別区がおかれたのが最初で，28年，省に改められ，現在の内モンゴル自治区のウランチャプ(烏蘭察布)盟，伊克昭盟，バヤン･ノール(巴彦淖爾)盟東部とフフホト(呼和浩特)市，包頭（パナトー）市等を管轄した。省都は帰綏つまり現在のフフホト市である。54年廃止されて，内モンゴル自治区に編入された。いわゆるオルドス地方にあたり，庫布斉，毛烏素等の砂漠もあるが，陰山(大青山)山脈の南側には，黄河沿岸に広い谷地が開け，とくに五原県を中心とする後套地区は黄河の水を引いて灌漑農業を行う広大な農地が開発され，農業生産性が高く，傅作義（ふさくぎ）の率いる地方軍閥の強固な拠点となっていた。
