A progressive student group formed in Changsha, Hunan Province in 1917 (formally established in 1918) under the influence of the New Culture Movement centered around the magazine New Youth. It was founded by Mao Zedong, Cai Hesen and others who were students at Changsha First Normal School at the time, and included items such as no gambling, no entertainment and no laziness in its rules, playing a key role in driving the New Culture Movement in Changsha.
