Japanese: 新城[市] - しんしろ

A city in the southeastern part of Aichi Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1958. It occupies the middle reaches of the Toyokawa River, and the city center flourished as a post town and market town on the Ina Kaido road, an important location for land and water transport, as it is the terminus of water transport. The Iida Line runs through the city. It was a lumber distribution center for the Shitara region, and was mainly involved in lumber, but in recent years, an industrial complex has been developed and industries such as electrical equipment have grown due to its proximity to the Toyokawa Interchange on the Tomei Expressway. In 2016, the Shin-Tomei Expressway opened east-west through the center of the town, and the Shinshiro Interchange was also opened. Sakurabuchi Prefectural Natural Park is known as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot. In the north, there are tourist spots such as Mount Horaiji, Yuya Onsen, and the ruins of Nagashino Castle (historic site). In October 2005, Hourai Town and Sakute Village in Minamishitara County were incorporated. 499.23 ^km2 . 49,864 people (2010).

愛知県南東部の市。1958年市制。豊川の中流域を占め，中心市街は水運の終点にあたる水陸交通の要地，伊那街道の宿場・市場町として栄えた。飯田線が通る。設楽(したら)地方の木材集散地で製材業を主としていたが，東名高速道路豊川インターチェンジに近く，近年は工業団地が造成され，電気機器などの工業が成長している。2016年には町のほぼ中央部を東西に新東名高速道路が開通し，新城インターチェンジも開設。桜淵県立自然公園は桜の名所として知られる。北部には鳳来寺山，湯谷温泉，長篠城跡（史跡）などの観光地がある。2005年10月南設楽郡鳳来町，作手村を編入。499.23km²。４万9864人（2010）。
