An ancient Japanese legal text. It appears to have originally consisted of more than ten volumes, but only an excerpt from the tenth volume remains today. The surviving portion is thought to consist mainly of a letter from 806 (Daido 1) regarding the fiefs of various Shinto and temple families, and also contains related Dajokan documents. It is valued as the only historical material that gives a general indication of the number of households, location, and year of grant of Kobe and temple fiefs in the early Heian period. Included in the "Zonsai Sosho" and "Shin-tei Zoho Kokushi Taikei." [Iida Mizuho] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
