1268-1341 (Bun'ei 5-Kokoku 2/Ryakuo 4) A Ji sect monk from the end of the Kamakura period. He is the founder of the Shijo branch of the Ji sect and goes by the name Jyo Amida Butsu. He was born in Kazusa Province as the son of Makino Yoriuji. He became a monk at the age of 19 and studied the Vatican under Ninsho at Gokuraku-ji Temple in Kamakura and Zen under Shinchi Kakushin at Kokoku-ji Temple in Kii, but gained nothing. He then made a pilgrimage to Kumano Shingu where he received a divine revelation and thereafter became a monk who promoted the practice of Nembutsu. In 1300 (Shoan 2), he met the monk Yugyo Taa Shinkyo and converted to the Ji sect. In 1309 (Enkei 2), he entered Kyoto and founded Shijo Gidarin-ji Temple (Konren-ji Temple).
