Japanese: 宸翰 - しんかん
Imperial handwriting - Shinkan
Also called shinpitsu. Handwriting by the emperor. The only ones that can be confirmed as shinkan are those from Emperor Saga's "Kousei Kaicho" onwards. There are few surviving examples from the Heian period, but many from the Kamakura period onwards.

宸筆ともいう。天皇が書いた筆跡。宸翰として確証のあるものは,嵯峨天皇の『光定戒牒』以後のもので,平安時代には遺品が少いが,鎌倉時代以降は数も多い。
