Singasari (English spelling)

Japanese: シンガサリ（英語表記）Singasari

A kingdom that flourished from 1222 to 1292, centered on Singhasari in eastern Java, Indonesia. Its founder, Ken Anglok (Anlo), was of humble origins, but was courageous and cunning. In 1220, he assassinated the lord of the Tema Pel region, Tenggur Ametung's wife Dedes, and became the lord instead. Two years later, he defeated and killed the last king of the Kediri dynasty, Kertajaya, in the Battle of Gangter, and established the Singhasari dynasty, renaming him King Rajasa. However, just five years later, a son born to Dedes and her former husband, Tenggur Ametung, assassinated him in revenge and ascended to the throne as the second king, Anusapati.
