Silk screen printing - Silk screen insatsu (English spelling) silk-screen printing
A type of stencil printing. It is also called silk process printing. It is similar to mimeograph printing, but instead of paper, coarse silk is pasted on a frame, covering everything except the line drawing, and ink is pressed onto it to print. There are several methods for making a printing plate, such as cutting out paper or film and pasting it on, filling in everything except the line drawing with oil ink or glue, or creating an image on silk using special photographic processing. It was invented by American J. Billworth around 1918. It can be used to print on materials other than paper and is suitable for expressing simple and clear forms, so it is used to print billboards, posters, paintings, etc., and since the 1960s its value as a work of art has increased, becoming one of the representative techniques of modern printmaking, known as serigraphy.
