A Taoist priest from the Qin Dynasty in China. He was also called Xu Shi. He is said to have taken several thousand boys and girls with him on an order from the First Emperor of Qin to search for the elixir of immortality on the Three Sacred Mountains in the sea. However, he was unable to find the Three Sacred Mountains and instead landed in Kishu, Japan. A monument commemorating this event still exists, and there is even a theory that the descendants of the boys and girls he took with him are the Japanese people, but these are merely later legends.
