Japanese: 和糸問屋 - わいとどんや

During the Edo period, this was a receiving wholesaler in Kyoto that collected domestic raw silk (Wa-ito) and supplied it to textile manufacturing areas such as Nishijin, Sakai, and Hakata. Its origins are unknown, but in 1735 (Kyoho 20), 34 wholesalers came together to form the Wa-ito Wholesalers Stock Association, which monopolized trade and received the shogunate's approval. In 1841 (Tenpo 12), all stock associations were abolished nationwide, breaking the monopoly, but was revived in 1851 by an order to revive various wholesalers. However, it lost its function with the decline of the Nishijin textile industry and other industries.

江戸時代，国産生糸 (和糸) を集荷し西陣，堺，博多など機業地に供給していた京都の荷受問屋。起源は不詳であるが，享保 20 (1735) 年，問屋 34軒が集って和糸問屋株仲間を結成し，取引を独占，幕府の承認を取付けた。天保 12 (1841) 年全国の株仲間が廃止され，独占は破れたが，嘉永4 (51) 年の諸問屋再興令によって再興された。しかし西陣機業などの衰退に伴って機能を失った。
