Andoken (English) safe-conduct

Japanese: 安導券 - あんどうけん（英語表記）safe‐conduct

A document issued by a warring nation to guarantee safe passage through a war zone for people, ships, or cargo from an enemy or third country. The date, time, route, and signage for passengers are agreed upon, and safe passage is guaranteed as long as the conditions stated in the safe passage are followed. The safe passage for the Awa Maru, which was sunk at the end of World War II, agreed upon the ports of call, date, time, size, shape, location of the white cross marking, method of marking the cross with lights at night, and speed, and instructions were sent by telegraph to American ships in the Far East (Awa Maru Incident).

交戦国が，交戦中に，敵国または第三国の人，船舶または貨物に対し，戦争区域を無事に通行できるよう安全を保障する文書。通行の日時，経路，通行者の標識などが合意され，安導券に示された条件に従うかぎり安全通行が保障される。第2次大戦末期に撃沈された阿波丸の安導券では，寄港地･日時，大きさ･形状，白十字の標示個所，夜間の灯火による十字の標示方法，速度などが合意され，アメリカの極東所在艦艇に電信で指示されていた(阿波丸事件)。
