Andes [Mountains] - Andes

Japanese: アンデス[山脈] - アンデス
Andes [Mountains] - Andes
The longest mountain range in the world, running vertically along the Pacific coast in western South America. It is 7,000 km long. Together with the Rocky Mountains, it is part of the Cordillera mountain system, which runs through the western part of the Americas. It was formed when Mesozoic geosynclinal deposits were folded during Tertiary orogeny. There are many volcanoes and earthquakes (Pacific Ring of Fire, seismic zone). It is a chain of high peaks over 5,000 m, the highest being Mount Aconcagua. It is generally in the tropical and subtropical zones, but the vertical difference in climate due to altitude is significant, and agriculture and livestock farming are practiced in the cool zones around 3,000 m. The marginal areas are rich in copper, silver, tin, etc. The Altiplano, which stretches from southern Peru to northern Bolivia, was the center of ancient Andean civilization.
