Japanese: 昭和[町] - しょうわ

An old town in Minamiakita County, western Akita Prefecture. Located on the southeast shore of Lake Hachirogata, it produces rice and vegetables, and is also a popular flower growing area. Smelt fishing at Lake Hachirogata declined due to land reclamation. Okubo, located in the center of the town, was once a post station on the Ushu Kaido road, and is now served by the Ou Main Line. In 1965 it was designated a new industrial city, and electrical machinery factories and other facilities are located here. In March 2005 it merged with Iidagawa Town and Tenno Town in Minamiakita County to become a city, called Katagami City. Area: ^{40.65 km2} . Population: 8,738 (2003).

A town in Nakakoma County in central Yamanashi Prefecture. Located in the center of the Kofu Basin, bordering the southwest of Kofu City, it produces a lot of vegetables, and also grows rice and strawberries. It is served by the Minobu Line and the Chuo Expressway, and many people commute to Kofu City. Area: 9.08 ^km2 . Population: 17,653 (2010).

秋田県西部，南秋田郡の旧町。八郎潟の南東岸に位置し，米，野菜を産し，花卉(かき)栽培も盛ん。八郎潟のワカサギ漁は干拓により衰えた。中心の大久保はかつての羽州街道の宿駅で奥羽本線が通じる。1965年新産業都市に指定され，電気機械工場などが立地。2005年３月南秋田郡飯田川町，天王町と合併し市制，潟上市となる。40.65km²。8738人（2003）。
