A former town in Kitakatsushika County, eastern Saitama Prefecture. The Edogawa River runs along the eastern border, and the Shonai-Furukawa River runs south along the western border. The town occupies part of the Shimousa Plateau and alluvial lowlands. The Tobu Noda Line runs through the town. Rice and field crops are cultivated here. In recent years, residential development has been progressing. Incorporated into Kasukabe City in October 2005. Area: 28.15 km2 . Population: 37,447 (2003).
