Jomo Sanzan - Jomo Sanzan

Japanese: 上毛三山 - じょうもうさんざん

It refers to the three mountains in Gunma Prefecture: Akagi (1,828 meters), Haruna (1,449 meters), and Myogi (1,104 meters). Jomo is a place name derived from an archaic word that referred to Gunma Prefecture as Kamitsukenu no Kuni in ancient times, and is used together with the name Joshu (Gunma Prefecture). Both Mount Akagi and Mount Haruna are majestic double-cone volcanoes with wide bases, while Mount Myogi is a mountain of unusually shaped rocks that have been dissected. They are loved by the people of Gunma Prefecture as symbols of the prefecture, and all have been made into prefectural parks.

A strange peak in the western part of Gunma Prefecture. It is one of the "Three Mountains of Jomo" and is counted among Japan's Three Great Scenic Spots due to its abundance of scenic beauty with oddly shaped rocks and bizarre stones. 群馬県にある赤城(あかぎ)（1828メートル）、榛名(はるな)（1449メートル）、妙義(みょうぎ)（1104メートル）の三つの山をいう。上毛とは、古代に群馬県を上毛野国(かみつけぬのくに)といった古語から出た地名で、上州(じょうしゅう)（群馬県）という呼称とともに用いられる。赤城山と榛名山はともに雄大な二重式円錐(えんすい)火山で広い裾野(すその)をもち、妙義山は開析が進み変化に富んだ奇岩の山である。群馬県のシンボルとして県民にたいへん親しまれ、いずれも県立公園になっている。
