Japanese: 上洞人 - じょうどうじん

Also known as the Mountaintop Cave Man. A group of human bones discovered by Pei Wenzhong in 1930 in a cave above the Zhoukoudian cave in China where the famous Sinanthropus was discovered, consisting of at least seven individuals. In general, the characteristics of Cro-Magnon humans in the broad sense, such as tall stature, long head, and wide face, are characteristic of Cro-Magnon humans, but some of the bones believed to be female have characteristics such as a wide nose, slightly protruding jaw, and wide cheekbones, and many scholars believe that they are fossils of modern humans, ancestors of the Mongoloids. Accompanying animal fossils such as deer, hyena, bear, and tiger, the group is thought to correspond to the 4th glacial period of the late Pleistocene epoch. Stone tools, bone needles, and ornaments have been discovered along with the human bones.

山頂洞人ともいう。著名なシナントロプスが発見された中国周口店の洞窟の上方にある洞窟から，1930年に裴文中が発見した人骨群であり，少くとも7個体ある。一般に広義のクロマニヨン人的な長身，長頭，広顔などの特徴をもつが，女性と思われる人骨には広鼻，軽い突顎，広い頬骨などの特徴をもつものがあり，モンゴロイドの祖先の化石現生人類であると考える学者が多い。シカ，ハイエナ，クマ，トラなどの動物化石を伴っており，更新世後期の第4氷期に相当すると考えられている。人骨に伴って石器，骨針，装身具が発見されている。
