Japanese: 成道会 - じょうどうえ
Jodo-e
This is a ceremony held to commemorate the Buddha's attainment of enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. It is usually held on December 8th, so it is also called the Rōhachie. In Zen temples, people practice zazen day and night from December 1st to 8th. Zazen during this period is also called sesshin.

釈迦が菩提樹の下で悟りを得たことを記念して行う法会。12月8日に行うのが普通なので,臘八会(ろうはちえ)ともいう。禅宗寺院では12月1〜8日まで昼夜座禅に励む。この間の座禅を接心ともいう。
