Japanese: 衝角付冑 - しょうかくつきかぶと

A type of helmet from the Kofun period in Japan, it was used in combination with short armor or kaku armor from the 5th to 7th centuries. Its flat shape is slightly elongated egg-shaped from front to back, with a ridge at the front ramming edge. It is generally made of iron, but there are very rare cases of iron plated with gold and copper, and although there are few examples, there are also known to be leather ones. In most cases, the ramming edge and the bottom plate at the top are made of a single iron plate, and two strips of iron curved into a U-shape are placed one above the other and joined at the ramming edge, with various base plates layered between them from the inside.

日本の古墳時代の冑の一種で，5世紀から7世紀にかけて，短甲や挂甲と組み合わせて用いられた。平面形は，前後に少し長い卵形をしており，前面の衝角部には稜がつく。鉄製が一般的であるが，ごくまれに鉄地金銅張製があり，また，例は少ないが，革製の存在も知られている。多くは，衝角部と頂部の伏板が1枚の鉄板でできており，U字形に湾曲させた帯状鉄板2枚を上下に並べて衝角部で合わせ，それぞれの間に，各種の地板を内側から重ねる。
