A city in central Aichi Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1952. It is located in the center of the Okazaki Plain, and the alluvial plateau that occupies most of it was rapidly developed after the completion of the Meiji Irrigation Canal in 1880. It was a farming area called the Denmark of Japan at the time, with a diversified management of double cropping of rice and wheat and poultry farming. In recent years, urbanization has progressed, and suburban agriculture is practiced. Large spinning factories have been established in the central city since the early Showa period, and the textile industry was the mainstay, but in recent years, the transportation equipment and electrical equipment industries have been the mainstays, and the city has developed into an industrial city, with a manufacturing shipment value of 1.2623 trillion yen (2003). It is connected to the Tokaido Main Line, Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line, and Gamagori Line, and Mikawa Anjo Station opened on the Tokaido Shinkansen in 1988. It has an area of 86.05 ^km2 . 愛知県中部の市。1952年市制。岡崎平野の中心部にあり，その大部分を占める洪積台地は1880年の明治用水の完成後急速に開拓され，米麦二毛作と養鶏の多角経営がとられて当時は日本のデンマークと呼ばれる農村地帯となった。近年は都市化が進み，都市近郊型農業が行われている。中心市街は昭和初期から大紡績工場が進出し，繊維工業が中心であったが，近年は輸送用機器，電気機器工業が中心で１兆2623億円の（2003）製造品出荷額を上げ，工業都市として発展している。東海道本線，名鉄名古屋本線，蒲郡線が通じ，1988年東海道新幹線に三河安城駅が開業した。86.05km²。17万8691人（2010）。
