Schwabenspiegel (English spelling) Schwabenspiegel German
One of the most important German law books of the Middle Ages, it was widely circulated mainly in southern Germany. It was written by a Franciscan monk in Augsburg around 1275-76 and was originally called the Imperial Land and Feudal Laws. It was based on the unfinished Deutschenspiegel, a High German translation of the Sachsenspiegel (c. 1265), and is more clearly influenced by canon law and Roman law than the latter, but its legal thinking and logic are somewhat more conventional.
