A famous Iranian physician. Born in Jurjan. In 1110, he went to Khwarezm and served the Khwarezmian Shahs. He later moved to Merv and served the Seljuk dynasty of Sanjar, where he died. His main work, "Dhakhīra-i Khwārizmshāhī," was the first medical encyclopedia in Persian. He also wrote many other works on medicine and philosophy.
