This work follows on from Nihon Ojo Gokurakuki and records the deeds of 42 deceased people in classical Chinese. It was written by Oe Masafusa. It was completed in 1101-11 (Kōwa 3-Ten'ei 2). It lists the Emperor, nobles, monks, and lay men and women (including nuns) in this order, which is unique. Some of the stories are based on national histories and other traditions, but there are many stories about people close to Masafusa, and it is thought that much of it is based on his own observations and knowledge, as it includes people who died in Dazaifu and Mimasaka, where Masafusa served as provincial governor.
