Anzai Bridge (English: Anzai Bridge)

Japanese: 安済橋 - あんさいきょう（英語表記）Ān jì qiáo

This is a representative Chinese stone bridge spanning the Wen River in Zhaoxian County, Hebei Province, China, also known as the Zhaozhou Bridge (see image). It was made by master Li Chun during the Sui dynasty. The flat bow-shaped arch, 50m long, 37m span, and 7m rise, is made up of 28 parallel arch rings, with two spandrel arches on each side. This form is in accordance with the principles of structural mechanics, and is effective in dispersing water flow during floods, reducing the bridge's own weight, and preventing the bridge from collapsing, demonstrating the advanced technological level of China at the time.
