Japanese: 雌雄モザイク - しゆうモザイク

Also known as sexual mosaicism. A single animal has a mixture of parts (cells, tissues, and organs) with male genes and parts with female genes. It is seen in insects, crustaceans, spiders, sea urchins, and vertebrates such as pheasants, where half of the body is male and half is female. It is thought to occur during development when chromosomes are unevenly distributed during nuclear division or when somatic mutations occur.

性的モザイクとも。動物で一つの個体の中に，雄の遺伝子をもつ部分（細胞・組織・器官）と雌の遺伝子をもつ部分が混在すること。昆虫類，甲殻類，クモ，ウニ，脊椎動物ではキジ類などで見られ，体の半分が雄で，半分が雌といった表れ方をする。発生の途中で，染色体の分配が不均等な核分裂，あるいは体細胞突然変異などが起こると生じると考えられている。
