Angyo

Japanese: 安行 - あんぎょう
Angyo

A district in the southeastern part of Saitama Prefecture, northeastern part of Kawaguchi City. Formerly known as Angyo Village. The soil is well-ventilated and drained, making it suitable for producing seedlings and trees. Tree cultivation has been popular since the Edo period, and there is also the Saitama Prefecture Flower and Greenery Promotion Center and the Kawaguchi Greening Center, with the Angyo Tree Festival being held in April. Totsuka-Angyo Station on the Saitama Rapid Railway is nearby. There is the Angyo (Sarukai) shell mound from the late to final Jomon period, and the Ohara ruins from the Jomon to Nara period.
