A French royal poet of the late Middle Ages. Born in Paris to Louis (Duke of Orléans), the king's younger brother, and Valentina Visconti (Duke of Milan). When he was 12 years old, his father was assassinated, and he made his opposition to his father's enemy, the Duke of Burgundy, clear, and at a young age, he became the leader of his party. However, in 1415, he was defeated in a battle at Azincourt against the English army, which had made an alliance with the enemy, and was taken prisoner and transported to England, where he was forced to remain in captivity for 25 years. He returned to France at the age of 47, and a few days later he married Marie de Cleves, the niece of Philippe, Duke of Burgundy, for the third time. He attempted to mediate between the two factions of the country, while also going on foreign campaigns in search of the Duchy of Milan, but he was severely treated in both battles and retired to Blois.

フランス中世末期の王侯詩人。王弟ルイ(オルレアン公)を父とし，バレンティナ･ビスコンティ(ミラノ公女)を母としてパリで生まれる。12歳のとき父が暗殺されたため，父の敵であるブルゴーニュ公との対決姿勢を鮮明にし，若年にして一党の旗頭となる。しかし1415年，敵方と盟約を結ぶイングランド軍とアザンクールで戦って敗れ，捕虜となり，イギリスに移され，その後25年に及ぶ捕囚を余儀なくされる。47歳で帰国，数日後にブルゴーニュ公フィリップの姪マリー･ド･クレーブと3度目の結婚をし，国内2党派間の調停に乗り出す一方，ミラノ公領を求めて外征に赴くが，いずれも手痛い仕打ちを受け，ブロアに隠棲する。
