...The remains of the first early agricultural village discovered in the Zagros Mountains east of Kirkuk in northeastern Iraq. Excavations were carried out between 1948 and 1955 by R.J. Braidwood (1907- ) of the University of Chicago's Oriental Institute, with the aim of investigating the process from food gathering to food production.
