Shahbāz Gaṛhī (English spelling)

Japanese: シャーバーズ･ガリー（英語表記）Shāhbāz Gaṛhī

This village is located about 70km northeast of Peshawar in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan, and flourished as a key location on the ancient trade route. A. Huche believes it corresponds to the city of Barosha described in Xuanzang's Records of the Western Regions of the Great Tang Dynasty. There are rock-carved edicts of King Ashoka inscribed in Kharoshthi script on a rock on the western slope of the southeastern hill and on a boulder at the foot of the mountain that fell from there. Also on the northeastern hill is the site of Mehasanda Buddhist temple, and on the plain to the west is the site of Chanaka Delhi Palace. [Koezuka Takashi]
