Written by Saito Mokichi. Published in 1913 ( Taisho 2 ). 834 poems. This is the author's first collection of tanka poems, sensual in its Manyo-style, singing of robust vitality and sharp, intense sensuality. It established the author's reputation as one that gave tanka a modern character.

Aka-bikari [red light]

〘 noun 〙 The condition of skin or the surface of an object shining red. Red and shiny. ※Ryokyo Rigonkou (around 1868-70) "Akahikari" means something that is red and shiny. It goes without saying. However, you have never heard of the term akahikari in reference to lightning, thunder, or fire."
