A wholesaler entrusted with selling products from the Izu Islands in Edo until the mid-Edo period. During the Edo period, seafood such as raw fish, dried fish, dried bonito flakes, turban shells, and abalone, forest products such as firewood, boxwood, chestnuts, yasha (alder trees), and camellia fruit, and industrial products such as camellia oil and textiles were sent to Edo from the Izu Islands. Many of these products were produced jointly by the islanders, and shipped collectively on the island. In addition to sending products to Edo, the islanders also purchased necessary items for daily life in Edo and distributed them to the islanders. 江戸中期まで江戸で伊豆諸島の産物の販売を委託された荷受問屋。江戸時代に伊豆諸島からは生魚,干魚,鰹節,サザエ,アワビなどの海産物,まき,ツゲ材,シイの実,ヤシャ(ハンノキ),ツバキの実などの林産物,ツバキ油,織物などの工産物が江戸へ送られていた。これらの生産の多くは島民の共同でなされ,その出荷も島としてまとめてなされていた。島では産物を江戸へ送るとともに,生活上必要な品々を江戸で買い求め,島民に分配した。
