Shimajin

2-chloro-4,6-bis(ethylamino)-1,3,5-triazine. _{C 7} H ₁₂ ClN ₅ (201.66). One of the representative triazine herbicides. It is synthesized by reacting cyanuric chloride with ethylamine. White crystals. Melting point: 225-227 °C. It is poorly soluble in common organic solvents. It is used as a non-hormonal translocated photosynthesis-inhibiting herbicide in orchards and non-arable land. It is selective to corn and does not cause any phytotoxicity. _{LD 50} 5000 mg/kg (rat, oral). [CAS 122-34-9]
