Police officers who investigate crimes. In terms of qualifications under the Criminal Procedure Law, there is a distinction between judicial police officers and judicial constables. The former are generally at the rank of sergeant or above, and only the former are given the important powers of judicial police officers (such as requesting warrants, accepting complaints, accusations, and surrenders). The investigative authorities consist of judicial police officers and prosecutors, and while the two work together to conduct investigations, judicial police officers may receive instructions and direction from prosecutors.
