Tekeli (English spelling)

Japanese: テケリ（英語表記）Tekeli

A city in the Taldy-Kurgan Oblast in southeastern Kazakhstan. It is located about 50 km east-southeast of the oblast capital, Taldy-Kurgan, in the Dzungarskiy Alatau Mountains at an altitude of over 1,000 m. It is a mining city overlooking the Tekeli River, and is home to a zinc-lead complex. It is the terminus of a branch line of the Torkushiv Railway that connects Almaty and Semipalatinsk. It has a population of about 30,000.
