An assassin from China's Warring States period. A native of Wei (Henan Province). He enjoyed reading and sword fighting, and traveled around the country, mingling with wise men and heroes. He went to Yan (Hebei Province) and became acquainted with Prince Dan, who asked him to assassinate King Zheng of Qin (later the First Emperor) to save the country from crisis. He took with him the head of the deceased Qin general Fan Wuji and a map of Yan's Dukang (Guan County, Hebei Province), and left a poem for the Prince and others who were seeing him off: "The wind is shrouded and the Yi River is cold. A brave warrior leaves and never returns." He was granted an audience with the King of Qin, and attempted to assassinate him with a dagger hidden in the map, but failed, and was eventually killed.
