A former town in Kaifu County, southern Tokushima Prefecture. The main settlements on the Pacific coast are engaged in coastal fishing, while the middle and upper reaches of the Shishikui River are engaged in agriculture such as rice and vegetable cultivation. The coast is part of the Muroto-Anan Coast Quasi-National Park. The Asa Coast Railway runs through the area. In March 2006, it was merged with Kainan Town and Kaifu Town in Kaifu County to become Kaiyo Town in Kaifu County. 92.00 km2 . 3,669 people (2003). 徳島県南部,海部(かいふ)郡の旧町。太平洋岸の主集落は沿岸漁業を主とし,宍喰川の中・上流では米作,野菜栽培などの農業を営む。海岸は室戸阿南海岸国定公園に属する。阿佐海岸鉄道が通じる。2006年3月,海部郡海南町,海部町と合併し町制,海部郡海陽町となる。92.00km2。3669人(2003)。
