Shiki [city] - Shiki
A city in southeastern Saitama Prefecture. It was renamed from Adachi Town in Kitaadachi County and incorporated as a city in 1970. It spans the northeastern part of the Musashino Plateau and the alluvial lowlands on the west bank of the Arakawa River, with the Shingashi River flowing through the center. Shiki, in the center, flourished as a river port and market town on the Shingashi River. As it is on the Tobu Tojo Line and is within 25 km of the Tokyo metropolitan area, the number of housing complexes has increased rapidly since the late 1960s, and it has become a typical suburban city. 9.05 km2 . Population 69,611 (2010).

埼玉県南東部の市。1970年北足立(きたあだち)郡足立町から改称,市制。武蔵野台地北東部から荒川西岸の沖積低地にまたがり,中部を新河岸川が流れる。中心の志木は新河岸川の河港,市場町として栄えた。東武鉄道東上線が通じて首都圏25km以内の距離にあるため,1960年代後半から住宅団地が急増,典型的な近郊都市となった。9.05km2。6万9611人(2010)。
