Ciudad Bolívar (English spelling)

Japanese: シウダード・ボリーバル(英語表記)Ciudad Bolívar
Ciudad Bolívar (English spelling)
Capital of Bolivar State in eastern Venezuela. Population 225,340 (1990). A river port founded in 1764 on the banks of the Orinoco as a distribution center for Llano products. Because the river narrows abruptly here, it was called Angostura at the time, and cattle, horses, leather, gold, diamonds, etc. were shipped here. Since the 1950s, comprehensive development of iron ore deposits in the Guiana Highlands has been underway. In 1819, S. Bolivar proclaimed the independence of Gran Colombia here.
