Artuqid dynasty - Artuq

A Turkmen dynasty that existed in the Diyarbakir region on the upper Tigris River from the end of the 11th century to the beginning of the 15th century. Its founder, Artuk, served as an amir of the Seljuk Empire. His sons Ilghāzī and Sukmān each established the foundations of the dynasty, and from then on, both royal lines ruled over the cities of the Diyarbakir region until the first half of the 13th century. The royal line that ruled over the city of Mardin in southeastern Anatolia, subjugated to the powerful neighboring powers such as the Seljuks, Zengids, Ayyubids, and Ilkhanates, continued to exist until the beginning of the 15th century.
