Diazo type

This is a photographic method that utilizes the fact that the ability of diazo compounds to form azo dyes through a coupling reaction is lost through photolysis, and is used for various types of copying and full-color image recording. There are the following classifications based on the development method.
(1) Wet method: The original is placed on top of a photosensitive paper coated with a diazonium salt and exposed to ultraviolet light. The diazonium salt in the unrecorded (exposed) areas is photodecomposed, and then developed with an alkaline coupling component solution to form an azo dye in the unexposed areas.
(2) Dry process: After exposing a photosensitive layer containing a diazonium salt and a coupler to light, it is exposed to ammonia gas to form a dye in the unexposed areas.
(3) Thermal method: In addition to the components used in the dry method, a photosensitive layer is used which contains a component that liberates alkali when heated, and a dye image is created by exposure and heating.
In light-fixing thermal recording methods, a coupling reaction occurs in the heated areas using a thermal head, and after color development, the unreacted diazonium salt is photodecomposed and fixed. Some light-fixing methods encapsulate diazonium salts in microcapsules, and use the differences in the temperature at which the coupling reaction occurs and the fixing wavelength to obtain full-color images. Diazo compounds are also used as photosensitizers in high-resolution positive photoresists. This takes advantage of the fact that photodecomposition causes the coexisting resin to become alkaline-soluble.

ジアゾ化合物がカップリング反応によりアゾ色素を形成する能力が光分解によって失われることを利用する写真法で,各種複写やフルカラー画像記録などに用いられている.現像方法により次の分類がある.
(1)湿式:ジアゾニウム塩を塗布した感光紙と原稿を重ねて紫外線で露光し,未記録部分(露光された部分)のジアゾニウム塩を光分解後,アルカリ性のカップリング成分溶液で現像し,未露光部にアゾ色素を形成させる.
(2)乾式:ジアゾニウム塩とカプラーを含む感光層に露光後,アンモニアガスに触れさせて未露光部に色素を形成させる.
(3)熱式:乾式における成分に加えて熱によってアルカリを遊離する成分を含む感光層を用い,露光,加熱により色素像をつくる.
光定着型感熱記録方式では,サーマルヘッドによる加熱部分でカップリング反応を起こさせ,発色後未反応部分のジアゾニウム塩を光分解して定着する.光定着型のなかには,ジアゾニウム塩をマイクロカプセルに封入し,カップリング反応の起こる温度および定着波長の違いを利用してフルカラーの画像を得るものもある.このほか,ジアゾ化合物は高解像力のポジ型光レジストの感光剤としても用いられる.光分解によって,共存する樹脂がアルカリ可溶化することを利用したものである.
