A Turkic language. Spoken by 50,000-60,000 Khakassians in the Republic of Khakassia, Russia. Includes Sagay and Kacha dialects. Together with Tuvan, Oirotic (Altaic), and Shor, it forms the northeastern (Altaic) Turkic dialect. Khakass is also used as a written language by Shor speakers. チュルク諸語の一つ。ロシアのハカス共和国でハカス人5万~6万人に用いられている。サガイ方言とカチャ方言を含む。トゥーバ語,オイロート語 (アルタイ語) ,ショル語とともにチュルク諸語の北東方言 (アルタイ方言) を形成する。ハカス語はショル語の話し手の文字言語としても使われている。
