[Early Modern Documents]
Early modern society had a structure in which historical materials such as documents and records were stored that corresponded to the governing structure, and some estimates put the total at nearly 100 million items. The styles were also complex and diverse, and with the development of washi paper production and the spread of education for the common people, not only did the quantity increase, but the materials were also characterized by their commoner appeal.
