Industrial defense struggle

Japanese: 産業防衛闘争 - さんぎょうぼうえいとうそう

Based on the Nine Principles for Economic Stability and the Dodge Line, from the end of 1948 many industries were forced to implement corporate consolidation (company closures and downsizing) and mass layoffs, but this was a struggle policy drawn up by labor unions, mainly the Industrial Federation Conference, to oppose this. The unions linked up with progressive national capital, citizens, and farmers, organized local people's struggles and struggles against local governments under the slogan "Protect our industries and hometowns," and aimed to develop this into a political struggle to overthrow the Yoshida Shigeru cabinet. However, the policy itself had problems with its understanding of the political situation and specific tactics, and did not produce sufficient results.

経済安定九原則やドッジ･ラインに基づき，1948年暮れから多くの産業で企業整備(企業閉鎖や企業規模縮小)･大量解雇が強行されたが，これに反対するため産別会議を中心とした労働組合がたてた闘争方針。進歩的民族資本･市民･農民と結び，〈産業･郷土を守れ〉をスローガンに地域人民闘争･対地方自治体闘争を組み，これを吉田茂内閣打倒の政治闘争に発展させることをめざした。しかし，方針自体に政治情勢認識･具体的戦術等の問題点があり，十分な成果を上げなかった。
