A meeting where Japanese Shinto, Buddhist and Christian denominations gathered and pledged to cooperate to improve national morality. It was proposed by Tokonami Takejiro, Vice Minister of the Interior, and was realized through government planning and support. Tokonami learned that religions had a great influence and leadership power on society in Europe, and he called on the religious world to use the power of religion in Japan to prevent dangerous ideas and stabilize social order. The meeting, held at the Kazoku Kaikan on February 25, 1912, was attended by 13 representatives of 13 Shinto denominations, 50 representatives of 14 Buddhist sects, and representatives of Christian denominations including Methodists, Congregationalists, Baptists, the Church of Christ in Japan, the Anglican Church, and the Catholic Church.
