Oxide magnet

Oxide magnet
A magnetic material made from ferromagnetic ferrite MO・γFe 2 O 3 (M is a metal). It is also called powder magnet because it is made by molding the powder. Magnetic ferrite is commonly called ferrite, and depending on the type of M, it is called copper ferrite, zinc ferrite, etc. M can be iron, cobalt, magnesium, barium, copper, lead, etc., either alone or in combination, and fine powder of 1 to 0.01 μm is sintered or molded with a binder. There are two types. (1) It has a large residual magnetic flux density of 6 to 12 kilogauss and a coercive force of 2000 to 4000 oersted, and is a permanent magnet material. Representative examples are OP magnets ((Co,Fe)O・γFe 2 O 3 ) and Ferroxdur FXD magnets (main component BaO・6Fe 2 O 3 ), and have a wide range of applications such as toys, dynamo lamps, and loudspeakers. (2) It has a large initial permeability and a small coercive force of 0.1 to 10 Oersted, and is used in high-frequency powdered iron cores. Most of the ferrites are made of zinc, with copper and magnesium mixed in, and there are many types such as ferrox cubes and ferrin bars. Along with carbonyl iron powder, it is an important material in the high-frequency industry.
